About Alan Reynolds
I am a board certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in shoulder, elbow and sports medicine, and an assistant professor at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. My practice in Guilford County focuses on getting patients of all ages back to the activities that are important to them, whether that be competitive sports or pain-free daily activities. I am a former professional and collegiate hockey player and currently enjoy running, cycling and hiking.

Sports Medicine
During my training, I participated in the care of the New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates and several men’s and women’s teams at Fordham University and Columbia University. Presently, I serve on the medical staff for Winston-Salem State University, Carolina Core, High Point Rockers, and the Winston-Salam Open.
Professional Memberships
I am the only member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons currently practicing in Greensboro. I am also an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and am board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Innovation and Research
As part of the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, we are actively enrolling patients in numerus international clinical trials that are advancing orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. Our surgical techniques and approaches reflect the latest advances in the field and are evidence-based.
Ongoing clinical trials that we are participating in:
- Stability 2: ACL reconstruction +/- lateral tenodesis with patellar vs quad tendon
- OASIS: Open vs Arthroscopic stabilization of shoulder instability with subcritical bone loss
- MVP trial: Comparing meniscus repair biologic augmentation: Marrow venting procedure vs PRP
